Babe Channel: History of Partyland at Babestation

The following is a blog entry from @BabeTV's Tumblr account from September 2014, chronicling the early days of Partyland. It's a rather detailed account that includes dates and descriptions. Unfortunately, many of the pictures and videos from that time have been lost but @BabeTV does a remarkable job of describing the events that took place.

@BabeTV released a tonne of content chronicling Partyland's debut, which was produced in the former Sexstation studios. Here he has listed some key moments in Partyland's development after joining Babestation:

4th September 2009: Partyland fully combines with Babestation and relocates to the Babestation studios following a period of rampant babe exchanges. The ancient Partyland wall sign is visible for the first few few nights. Caty Cole and Rachel Cole (not related) appeared on split screen. Behind Rachel, viewers could see the upturned and disconnected Partyland wall sign. The overall aesthetic is pretty similar to the original Partyland set.

10th September 2009: Flo makes history by being the first girl to appear on both Babenation and Partyland Freeview in the same evening. From this day on, it would frequently happen.

11th September 2009: The show begins to be shot against a basic, mid-blue backdrop instead of Partyland's customary hanging curtain backdrop. Alex Adams and Jada introduced the show while Kelly Carter could be seen taking phonesex calls.

17th September 2009: It features Dionne Mendez on her debut babe channel 50 appearance, and reveals what looked to be a rather cramped setup. At this point, there also seemed to be faint reflections between the camera and the babes, which could perhaps mean that the camera was positioned on the other side of a window and gazing into a tiny area. Some rather substantial editing was required to make this originally unsharp image publishable.

18th September 2009: After BS1, BS2, and Party Girls lose their text boxes, Partyland is the only Babestation night show left with a dedicated text display box. On this particular night, there is also a one-time transition into a setting that is obviously not intended for a babeshow. It seems like some sort of waiting area with a crimson sofa and an orange wall covered with maps. The one-time "Orange Room" broadcast was presented by Megan Moore.

30th September 2009: Partyland shifts from Channel 50 to Channel 97 as part of the Freeview channel modifications that transfer explicit material to higher-numbered options. Additionally, Partyland physically moves onto the Babestation 2 set that was formerly next to the main Party People night show couch. The new mid-blue backdrop from Partyland has taken the place of the former mauve BS2 backdrop. From this point, Partyland is able to use the Party People couch for presenting and text chat. Given that PL is currently the only text show left, this is especially significant. The relocated Babestation 2 is placed next to Babestation 1 in the former 3G lounge, which is located upstairs. Rosie Lee also has her first night on the babeshows around this time. Karina Currie and Caty Cole, two original PL girls, introduced Rosie Lee and stood by her side for her debut. The show's initial babes continued to be the most common faces for a while after BS embraced Partyland.

27th October 2009: The Partyland set moves upstairs in a three-in-a-row layout with Babestation 2 and Babestation 1. A conclusion is drawn by viewers that there seems to be significant physical downsizing of all the Babestation night shows. The space where Babestation Xtra is located is roughly opposite the new Partyland set. Partyland will essentially remain at this new location until November 2010, when Glamourchase will take its place.

At this moment, Babestation Xtra replaces Babestation's text chat show, and Partyland also loses its ability to display text. The graphics block for Partyland has been condensed to leave only the phone numbers. A text-filled video inset and a 3G promo box are occasionally included by the producers. Michelle Moist started appearing around this time and she represented a new era.

18th November 2009: the Partyland graphics block is updated. A blue background is added, and the text is extended vertically to restore its original height. The main graphics block appears to still uses Cellcast's vintage font design. Paige Tyler was a well known fave during this time, as well as British porn star Lexi Ward and Stevie Ritchie.

26th January 2010: During its usual Freeview broadcast between 1am to 5.30am, Partyland's Channel 97 transmission is simulcast to Channel 99. Channel 99 offers PL an extra hour from midnight to 1am that is not available on any other Freeview channel. Channel 97 shows much visual content during this midnight hour because it is not constrained by its "softer" licence. Day one’s midnight hour featured Sammi J and author of the Babestation audio porn stories, Karina Currie and day two’s midnight hour featured Paige Tyler and Dionne Mendez.

28th January 2010: The Channel 99 footage stops after just two days, but Channel 95 is handed one hour of Partyland between midnight and 1am (a period not covered by any other Freeview channel). The visual material is far stronger on Channel 97 than it is on Channel 99 for the same hour. The girls are free to kiss, touch each other and get entirely naked. Candy Sexton and Ree Petra appeared together following Ree’s departure from Bang Babes. Daryl Morgan and Kandi also feature. The graphics were identical to those of Babestation 2, and the EPG was the same as Babestation 2. However, the presenters always began the show by introducing Partyland, and the broadcast included Partyland's 69069 mobile number.

11th February 2010: There is no longer a "harder" version of Partyland on Freeview because Babestation 2 in its place on Channel 95 during the midnight hour of Partyland. Channel 97 is now the only place to find Partyland. Partyland appears to have trouble defining itself at this time. Its text chat appeal has faded and it longer features exclusive babes. On Freeview it continues to operate under a more restrictive licence than other BS channels, making it more difficult to draw viewers away from the more overtly sexual programming of BS1, BS2, and now also BS Xtra, which was on its way to becoming a major adult phone chat show.

27th February 2010: A completely new font design appears with huge numbers that are nearly twice the size of the old graphics.

14th April 2010: Paige Tyler introduces babeshow newbie Elise Evans.

4th November 2010: Partyland ceases to appear on Freeview. It appears that one of the brand-new TVX Freeview programmes took the available transmission slot.

12th November 2010: Partyland is back on Freeview, although it airs for three hours instead of one, starting at 3am. Tiffany Chambers puts on a killer Partyland performance.

23rd November 2010: it’s Partyland’s final broadcast, and the channel is waved off by Dani O'Neal. Glamourchase quickly take the position of Partyland, which was later replaced by Babestation Blue in 2011.
